When a CD gets trapped inside an optical drive, it is usually caused by a software glitch, a worn-out mechanical drive belt, or a physical misalignment. Fortunately, you can safely retrieve an obstinate disc using built-in software triggers or hidden manual release mechanisms. 1. The Paperclip Trick (Emergency Manual Eject)
Most tray-loading disc drives on desktop PCs, laptops, and older standalone players feature a hidden manual release.
Power off the computer or device completely to ensure the disc has stopped spinning.
Locate the pinhole on the front panel of the drive tray, right next to the physical eject button.
Unbend a paperclip until you have a straight piece about 1 to 2 inches long.
Insert the paperclip straight into the pinhole and push gently but firmly until you feel resistance.
Pull the tray open manually once it pops open a fraction of an inch. 2. Software Eject Commands
