Lost Your myWiFi Key? Here is How to Recover It We have all been there. You bought a new gadget, or a friend came over, and they asked the dreaded question: “What is the Wi-Fi password?” Suddenly, you realize you have completely forgotten your security key.

If your wireless network name is myWiFi—or any other custom name—and you are locked out, do not panic. You do not need to call a technician just yet. As long as you have a device that was previously connected, or you have physical access to your router, recovering your network key is a quick process.

Here are the most effective ways to retrieve your lost Wi-Fi key. 1. Check Your Windows PC (Easiest Method)

If you have a Windows laptop or desktop that is currently connected (or was recently connected) to your myWiFi network, the password is hidden right inside your settings. The Control Panel Route:

Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run dialog box.

Type ncpa.cpl and hit Enter to open your network connections.

Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter (the one showing green signal bars) and select Status. Click on the Wireless Properties button. Switch to the Security tab at the top of the new window.

Check the box that says Show characters. Your lost key will instantly appear in plain text within the Network security key box.
